Diocese of Diphu Launches Karbi Literacy Book to Mark International Literacy Day

With an aim to promote literacy and highlight the significance of education, Believers Church Diocese of Diphu celebrated International Literacy Day on 8th September 2016 with much enthusiasm. To mark this occasion, the diocese launched the adult literacy book “Toklang Akitap” in Karbi language on that day.

The event had an audience of around 200 people. Mrs. Kuntila Ronghangpi (Former Executive Member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council) graced the program as chief guest and released the literacy book. She appreciated the initiative taken by Believers Church for the welfare of the people in Karbi Anglong.

While delivering the keynote address, Fr. Anup said, “Through literacy project, we aim to educate illiterate adults by opening learning centers in every district where they will be taught how to read and write”.
