Do you know 774 million adults around the world cannot read or write and 64% of them are women? The main reason for this is poverty, and because of illiteracy, they stay in poverty.
They can't understand instructions on their children's medicine or warnings on harmful chemicals. Even normal activities like starting a bank account become stressful and confusing.
Also, they don't get skilled or high-paying jobs and are frequently cheated and misused by greedy employers since they don’t understand what is written on their contract. No matter how hard they work, they are still poor.
We conduct free literacy classes for the underprivileged and thereby help them to break the cycle of poverty and live as dignified citizens in society.
Through our eight-month long literacy programs, we teach them how to write and read. We include relevant topics like health and hygiene, environmental and social awareness, moral and ethical values and general knowledge in their reading exercise. This not only helps them to gain valuable information on these topics, but also to improve their personal and family lives.
They no longer can be cheated or misused by others and are capable of doing their things their own.
