Diocese of Dehradun Launches New Tailoring Units for Empowering Marginalized Women

Believers Church Diocese of Dehradun inaugurated new vocational training units at three places on 18th September 2017.

Inaugurating one of the tailoring units, the chief guest, Mr. Deepak Badola (Municipal Chairman) said, “Such initiatives that are being taken for women empowerment are commendable and give us tremendous hope for the future of these women. Some of our women live amidst the most difficult social and financial circumstances. Whereas the government always puts its best foot forward, such empathy from civil society creates exemplary model for everyone else to emulate”.

Mrs. Uma Juyal (former Municipal Chairman) and Mrs. Sudha Garg (ward member) were also present on the occasion.

The primary purpose of opening the training units is to create employment opportunities for disadvantaged women by helping them learn basic skills in tailoring which will enable them to become economically independent.
